with effect from 15 June. Helen Freely becomes a partner,
James Freemantle becomes an Associate, and Richard Morgan
will become an Associate on 1 September. In
addition, Robert Schon becomes a consultant to the firm.
Office outing to Paris
We defied superstition and took the whole office to Paris on Friday
13 June. We went by the 6:30 EuroStar and fitted in a Seine boat trip,
lunch-time exploring the flower market, and an afternoon's sightseeing.
A great day out and a well-deserved thank-you to all who work at Ambrose
Appelbe.
Ambrose Appelbe sponsors
Andreas Scholl and OAE
Ambrose Appelbe were sponsors of a concert given by the Orchestra of
the Age of Enlightenment on 11 June at the Royal Festival Hall. Called
Celebrating the countertenor, the programme included arias by
Handel, Vivaldi and Bach sung by counter-tenor Andreas Scholl, and Bach
suites played by the OAE. The BBC will broadcast the concert on Radio 3
on 20 June at 7pm.
Additional Office Space
We continue to expand and this has led to a need for additional office
space. The firm’s old reception and conference room, and the west rooms
on Thomas More passage, are now occupied by Alison Cunningham - Accounts
Department, and by Christopher Hall, Consultant, and Leesa Glenwright
who both work in the Property Department.
Question Time
QEB Chambers, a leading set of family barristers whom Ambrose Appelbe
regularly instructs, recently hosted an evening for family lawyers. It
provided a unique opportunity for the firm to interact with leading
family law judges. In an area of the law that is rapidly evolving, and
where decisions of these judges is paramount, an opportunity to hear
their thoughts on recent family law developments proved invaluable.
In-House Seminars
The firm is now regularly holding in-house seminars on a wide range of
topics to keep fee earners up to speed with legal developments across
departments. This will further enhance the firm’s holistic approach and
its ability to assist clients in all areas of its work.
Hail and Farewell
The firm is sad to be saying goodbye to our outdoor clerk, Chelsea
Walker, who has been with us for two years. She is to be congratulated
for successfully obtaining a position as a Junior Clerk with an
excellent set of chambers at 1 Garden Court and this was celebrated at a
lunch on 14th May. We wish her well for the future.
We are pleased to welcome
Emma Harris as our new receptionist.
15 Years at Ambrose
Appelbe
Sarah Hopson, Secretary and PA to Lisa Bolgar Smith, has been with the
firm for 15 years. A celebratory dinner was held in her honour at Sabor
Restaurant in Islington on 29th April, where everyone enjoyed cocktails
and Latin American food in a lively, friendly setting.
